Star Wars Day at Sea (SWDAS)
Here are some of the things you can expect to see and encounter on a SWDAS cruise. These are not all inclusive as I am sure I missed a lot. I had made a point to hit certain things I wanted to see. There were so many things to see and do you had to plan on doing them. My son and I had a blast and definitely would do it again. It is just a one day affair so if it’s not your thing, there are ways to avoid it. Most all of the activities are on Decks 3, 4 and 5. There are a few things that happen on Deck 11, but they are annotated in the Navigator.
Something to keep in mind is will it be perfect? No. Will it have some flaws? Yes. You have to remember you are on a ship at sea and they do the best they can. 2016 was the first year doing this and it had a few bugs. In 2016, there was a Pirate night with no fireworks or special menu. The day starts early and ends after the buffet. There will be activities for the whole family from Jedi Training to seminars to Star Wars Specific Crafts in the clubs. Make sure you read or look at the navigator for the day and find things that interest you. The Storm troopers generally do patrols of Deck 4 hourly and you can run into them there. There will be Troopers roaming around the inside along with Tuscan Raiders and Imperial Guards. Keep an eye out for the Imperial Officers as they will want to see your papers.

Update for 2017 SWDAS
Having recently returned from a March SWDAS, Wanted to update a few things.
For the most part it is the same as last year. However, the Meet and Greets are a little more streamlined in how they are run. This year, they are allowing people to chose to do the Trials at The Temple, which is a good thing. Last year it was a random selection process that didn’t work out too well. The meet and greets for this year were:
Droids: R2D2 and C3PO
Darkside: Darth Vader
First Order Kylo Ren
Rebels: Chewie
Now, those are the ones I saw. I don’t know if there were alternate ones at different times. For the Roaming characters notably missing were the Imperial Guards. I did notice that the characters were much more approachable and amiable to taking photos. A word of caution with the Tuskan Raiders: they will take your phone and hand to someone else. Don’t worry, you will get it back. Also different for this year is the backdrops were only for family photos, none of the characters were in the photos there. The Summon the Force show at 10:15 p.m. was different than last years but great none the less. I didn’t take near as many pictures or videos as I wanted to experience the day. Here is the link to some of the videos and pictures.
